HSA and FSA for Mobility Equipment: What's Covered and How to Use It

Health Savings Accounts (HSA) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) exist to make healthcare costs more manageable — and mobility equipment qualifies far more often than most people realize. OzzoCare accepts HSA and FSA debit cards directly at checkout.

What typically qualifies

  • Manual and power wheelchairs
  • Mobility scooters (prescribed or medically necessary)
  • Rollators and walkers
  • Hospital beds and adjustable beds for medical conditions
  • Patient lifts and transfer equipment
  • Bathroom safety equipment: grab bars, raised toilet seats, shower chairs, transfer benches
  • Orthopedic braces and supports
The IRS requires that eligible expenses be for the diagnosis, cure, mitigation, treatment, or prevention of disease. A mobility aid purchased due to injury, illness, or disability qualifies. A scooter purchased purely for convenience without medical need does not.

How to use your HSA or FSA card at OzzoCare

OzzoCare accepts HSA and FSA debit cards at checkout the same way any debit card is accepted. If your card is declined, contact your HSA/FSA plan administrator to confirm eligibility before ordering. Keep your receipt and any documentation of medical need.

FSA deadlines: use it or lose it

Most FSA accounts operate on a calendar year with a grace period or rollover limit. If you have FSA funds expiring at year end, mobility equipment is one of the highest-value purchases you can make. HSA accounts roll over indefinitely — no rush to spend before year end.

What about Medicare or private insurance?

OzzoCare is a retail cash and credit store. We do not bill Medicare or private insurance directly. However, many customers purchase through OzzoCare because they can access specific models faster than through the insurance billing process — and then submit for reimbursement independently where their plan allows.
